just a thought.........

congratulationssssss

slumdog millionaire won 8 ACADEMY AWARDS.The most exciting and euphoric moment is A.R Rehmans winning twin academy awards for 'JAI HO'-slumdog millionaire.

once again congratulations to A.R Rehaman. You simply rock!!!!!!
The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS)to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry including directors, actors, and writers. The formal ceremony at which the awards are presented is one of the most prominent film award ceremonies in the world. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences itself was conceived by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio boss Louis B. Mayer.

The 1st Academy Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, May 16, 1929, at hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood to honor outstanding film achievements of 1927 and 1928. It was hosted by actor Douglas Fairbanks and director William C. deMille.
The 81st Academy Awards
honoring the best in the film 2008was held on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Kodak theater in Hollywood with actor Hugh Jackman hosting the ceremony for the first time. The first awards were presented on May 16, 1929 at a private dinner in Hollywood, with an audience of less than 250 people.Since the first year the awards have been publicly broadcast, at first by radio then by TV after 1953.

evrything is fine.good that indian cinema forayed into international scenario.
but slumdog millionaire is a british movie and not indian.isn't the celebration misplaced?
Also why so much of hoopla about oscars?are the indian awards not enough for recognising and felicitating the indian cine achievements?do we need somebody else's opinion or an award to be contented with the success?why do indian cinema people crave for OSCARS? these are the questions that stormed my mind while reading the newspaper in which the ACADEMY AWARDS ruled the haedlines.and another intersting news item tht caught my attention is the UPA govt trying to take credit of this achievement and criticising the former govt in view of forthcoming elections.

i feel there is no need for so much of celebration for the success of slumdog.i agree its a great movie.but its not a indian movie, its just about india.

I'm not criticising the movie or the awards or hurting someone's feelings.

ITS JUST A THOUGHT.

RECESSION-omnipresent

Recession.....Recession....Recession.....
Thats wat i see,hear everywhere.
Open a newspaper and u see headlines
"IT sector badly hit by recession",
"XYZ company goes for cost cutting;curtesy recession".
Switch on a news channel and u see and hear discussions on recession.seems like its only the news channels that are making money in this period of recession.
recently i read a story on recession whiech i like to share;the story goes like this
This story is about a man who once sold "Wada-Paav" (spiced potato patty in a bun) by the roadside. He was illiterate, so he never read newspapers. He was hard of hearing, so he never listened to the radio. His eyes were weak, so he never watched television. But enthusiastically, he sold lots of "Wada-paavs". He was smart enough to offer some attractive schemes to increase his sales. His sales and profit went up. He ordered more a more raw material and buns as sales went up. He recruited more support staff to serve more customers. He started offering home deliveries. Eventually he got himself a bigger and better stove. As his business was growing, the son, who had recently graduated from college, joined his father. Then something strange happened. The son asked, "Dad, aren't you aware of the great recession that is coming our way?" The father replied, "No, but tell me about it." The son said, "The international situation is terrible. The domestic situation is even worse. We should be prepared for the coming bad times." The man thought that since his son had been to college, read the papers, listened to the radio and watched TV. He ought to know and his advice should not be taken lightly.
The next day onwards, the father cut down his raw material order and buns, took down the colourful signboard, removed all the special schemes he was offering to the customers and was no longer as enthusiastic. He reduced his staff strength by giving layoffs. Very soon, fewer and fewer people bothered to stop at his "Wada-Pav" stand. Eventually his sales started coming down rapidly, same as his profit. The father said to his son, "Son, you were right. We are in the middle of a recession and crisis. I am glad you warned me ahead of time." Moral of The Story: It's all in your MIND! And we actually FUEL this recession much more than we think we do!

Now am confused is recession really there affetcing our libes OR are we rightfully fueling it?
always wondered how one country's economy slowdown affects other countries?are we rightfully proving the world to be one without boundaries.
this RECESSIOn hit my office too...
and this recession is not just in terms of bussiness or economy.
it hit the soul of the employees.
The cheerful atmosphere is now clouded with tension.
The eyes wich had dreams of promotions, incentives etc now have fear of facing the unemployment again.
The thoughts of buying a house or a new car are now repalced with graving thoughts of 'how to pay the EMI?'
donno for how long this is gonna stay on for.....
lets see...........
